If I recall correctly, the top 3 league scorers (although Kessel at #3 might be tied with Bergy) since the start of the new year are all pens. Incredible.

I'm so glad the Pens have the owners they do or at the very least a team that will spend to the cap.. Id have a hard time accepting Eugene Melnyk with his cheap ways and stupid words.

Dzingel would be a nice middle six addition. Probably one of the few player OTT wants to keep though.

Sens fans deserve better. They're probably gonna lose EK and become a real pain to watch. Get an owner that can actually afford the team. He's like a kid that bought a BMW and works at burger king.

There are other circumstances that affect their attendance (arena location) but I do agree to a point. I think most of their games look like last nights which was horribly boring for half the game. Their on ice product is meh which is a result of a tight budget. Boucher employs a certain style to get the most out of that line up. It's just not an entertaining one.

There arena is 20ish mins from downtown, and any of the larger neighbouring towns are within 45 mins. For an Eastern Conference Final, the location is no excuse.

RW, how can you suggest the Pens power play doesn't struggle without Hornqvist in the lineup?They're at 28.9% with him in the lineup and 11.5% without him this season.

Mario was just making sure it wasn't GMJR that was trading for Phaneuf.

He was suggesting it wasn't because of Hornqvist because Jake is good at tipping pucks from in front of the net. I disagree. There's a difference between going to the net to score and making screening the goalie your top priority. Few if any are as good as Hornqvist at that.

Top PP is a machine missing a part right now. Hornqvist doesn't rack up the points the others do, but his screening the goalie and creating space for the skilled guys to operate is a key part of what they do.

I wonder if Melnyk will raise ticket prices when LA (with Phaneuf) comes to Ottawa or even more so if he trades Karlsson and Karlsson's new team comes to Ottawa.

That is what Nutting is doing for the SF games this season. He profited by getting rid of McCutcheon and will profit again when he comes back playing for another team. I think he came up with that idea after seeing the reception that Fleury got last week. The guy has no shame. The only thing to do is to boycott the Pirates.

Pirates owners are much worse than Melnyk. I actually understand Melnyk not wanting to deficit spend on players. The Pirates are very profitable and refuse to pay for players.

Should be looking at Geno, Crosby, and Kessels 5v4 p60 with and without Hornqvist to see if there is much of an impact there. Probably working with small sample sizes either way.
